Validating elements of organisational maintenance policy for maintenance management of public buildings in Nigeria

Purpose Maintenance policy is an element of building maintenance management that deals with organisation policy, planning and procedures, delineates how units in will manage specific components, auxiliary facilities services. Given this contextual setting, study investigates whether organisational policies (OMPs) utilised developed countries are relevant developing – using Nigeria as a case exemplar. Design/methodology/approach An empirical research design (using deductive reasoning) was implemented for research. Specifically, Delphi conducted revealed 23 elements impact OMP development Nigeria. Findings Of these twenty elements, six had very high on (VHI: 9.00–10.00), nine variables (HI: 7.00–8.99) eight other scored medium (MI: 5.00–6.99). Emergent findings reveal the engender effective include preparation safety procedure, optimisation action plan, well-defined priority system, risk factor establishment, suitable procedures clearly delineated process. Practical implications The guide policymakers identifying main required towards making national public asset preservation economic gains. Also, content future educational curriculum be more receptive to body knowledge built environment industry. Originality/value Cumulatively, presented illustrates replicate those adopted buildings assured when integral OMP.
